There's really only one famous trout stream in Georgia, the Chattahoochee. It runs straight through Atlanta which reminds me of chasing Erie steelhead in the Cleveland metro parks. The one day I decide to go just happened to be a "kids" fishing day on the river so parents brought their kids and extended families for a day on the water. PEOPLE EVERYWHERE.
I was pleasantly surprised with the clarity of the water. It was a brilliant emerald green and you could see miles deep. As I was getting to the water, people had already claimed their spots for the day and were adding fish to their stringers. To me, sitting in the same spot all day isn't enjoyable because you aren't reading the water or overcoming challenging drifts to earn that fish. A fish shouldn't just be tricked, you should be able to entice it so much with presentation and skill that it has no choice but to take the bait (in my case the fly).
Since I had no idea where I was going on the river, it took me about 2 hours to figure things out. After finding a perfect spot, a lady walking 6 dogs cut me off and ran out to the rock formation I was about to fish. She let her dogs off their leashes and let the play right on top of the trout...for 45 minutes. I walked around and fished some spots while she was still there with no luck. As soon as the dogs were gone and the fish had time to settle down, I went back. Once in position, a boat with a dad and very yound son troll in front of me, about 6 feet to be exact. RUDE. However, they were nice people and stopped to chat. As they pulled out, the little boy hooked into a rainbow. They added it to their stringer and as soon as his spoon hit the water, he had a second one on. I was getting out fished by a 6 year old! But he was adorable and showed me all of his fish was a huge grin.

So finally, I get into fish. The water was so clear, I could see the trout darting across pools to take my fly. Awesome! And on this day, the fish were very aggressive. They were SLAMMING nymphs. Another successful day with my Shimano Kozuka.
